The faculty of the Institute actively participates in the international conferences, including the annual meetings of the American Agricultural Economics Association, the Institute of International Fisheries Economics and Trade, the World Aquaculture Society, and the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council. In addition, the Institute sponsors international conferences and workshops in Taiwan. For instance, the Institute organized an international conference entitled "International Cooperation for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development" in Taiwan, July 18-21, 1994; and hosted the 9th annual meeting Fisheries Working Group of APEC in Taipei in June 1998.

In 2001, the Institute organized the International Workshop on Fishery Policy and Management for the South-Pacific Region in Keelung held during July 10-24 and the International Workshop on Fishery Management and Seafood Trade Development held in Keelung on July 12. In 2002, the Institute organized the International Workshop on Sustainable Management of Tropical and Subtropical Fisheries during 15-31 July, the International Conference on Sustainable Management of Tropical and Subtropical Fisheries on 18 July, and an International Conference on Bluefin Tuna and Cobia Cage Farming on 14 November.  Taking the advantage the opportunity of Taiwan hosting the Stock Assessment Group (SAG) and Scientific Committee (SC) Meeting for the Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT) international meeting from August 29 to September 8, the Institute invited several top international marine resource scientists who are on the Advisory Panel of CCSBT as speakers in a one day workshop, “International Workshop on Southern Bluefin Tuna Resource Management and International Perspective of Fisheries Management and Conservation,” held on August 28, 2005 in National Taiwan Ocean University.
